THE PURPOSE OF MAN The Bible makes it abundantly clear that God created man, and that He created him for His glory. (Isaiah43:7) Therefore, the ultimate purpose of man, according to the Bible, is simply to glorify God. In Ps. 100:2-3, we are told to worship the Lord with gladness and to know that the Lord is God, it is He who made us, and we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. We fulfill our purpose of glorifying God also by living our lives in relationship and in faithful service to Him. Since God created man in His image, man's purpose cannot be fulfilled apart from Him. In our fallen state, sin separates us from God and makes it impossible to glorify God on our own, but through Christ's sacrifice, our relationship with God is reconciled and our sin is forgiven. To glorify God is to set God highest in our thoughts and to have a venerable esteem of Him. Because the glory of God has intrinsic value and excellence, it transcends the thoughts of men, and the tongues of Angels. His glory is His treasure. Creatures below glorify God. The inanimate creatures and the heavens glorify God. "The heavens declare the glory of God" The curious workmanship of Heaven sets forth the glory of God. Men must bring glory to God. Men we glorify God when we bring others to His Kingdom. We glorify God when we give God the glory for all that we do. God's ultimate purpose for man is linked inextricably with the ancient question , "What is man" That was the question David and the Patriarch Job posed centuries ago. Man's salvation in God's Kingdom is the ultimate purpose of our life. Church, can we as the people of God, seek to fulfill our purpose by focusing on the glory of a soon coming King? Yes we can.
